   Joining Summit’s gallery of distinguished designers, Alwy Visschedyk makes a notable contribution to the company’s tradition of informal elegance and modern classic design. Alwy established his reputation as a creator of functional art by fabricating unique custom pieces for a high profile international clientele. A pioneer of new furniture materials and finishes, Alwy was among the first to make furniture from concrete. He is a fine woodworker as well, and has a special fondness for teak, a Summit hallmark.

  Born in Holland, Alwy immigrated to Australia with his family and spent his formative years in the town of Rockingham, on the Indian Ocean. In this environment of pristine bays and rugged islands, his love for simplicity, nature and outdoor spaces took root.

  Alwy eventually made his home in California, and studied painting at California Institute of the Arts. He soon moved on to the three dimensional realm of sculpture, and finally to furniture design.

  Visschedyk’s first designs for Summit were introduced in 2008. Since that time, Alwy has demonstrated a broad creative range and a rare versatility.





 Mark Anders began designing for Summit in 2011. Growing up on the Dorset coast in the south of England, Mark developed a love for water and boats early on. A stint with a major European yacht builder deepened his interest in all things marine, including engineering, architecture and bespoke furniture design, and gave him a firm grounding in the superyacht industry. Independent by nature and eager to strike out on his own, Mark opened a studio in Weymouth in 2004, and quickly earned a reputation for innovation and versatility.  His projects to date have ranged from tenders and sports boats to yacht clubs, hotels and superyachts.

Mark’s design aesthetic emphasizes simplicity, both in form and materials. His furniture designs evoke the kind of informal elegance that is indicative of the Summit brand.

The Harbor series, created exclusively for Summit, combines teak and polished stainless steel. The designs are thoughtful, original, and reflect the impeccable quality and workmanship for which Summit is known worldwide.




 Glyn Peter Machin is a multi-disciplinary designer whose work exhibits an extraordinary intelligence, a strong sense of structure and precise craftsmanship.

Early in his career, Glyn began to travel extensively in Europe, Asia and the United States, gathering ideas and inspiration from the varieties of landscape, culture and architecture. The result is a rare ability to draw from different sources and styles, yet create a highly original body of work unified by an aesthetic that reflects his ideas about simplicity, function and lifestyle. Based in Scandinavia, with its strong seafaring culture, Glyn’s designs often exhibit a practical bias, an economy of line that is functional yet elegant.

Glyn Peter Machin is one of the few non-Danish nationals to achieve the MDD working title and leads his own design studio specializing in furniture and product design for environments between and beyond walls. Glyn shares with Summit a passion to design and develop high quality products for such environments.

Joining forces with Summit in 2003, Glyn has created striking contemporary designs that represent a new refinement of the Summit aesthetic.





John Munford trained in furniture and interior design at The London College of Furniture, where he developed an enduring interest in furniture designed specifically for its environment, especially folding and nomadic furniture. Munford pursued a successful and varied career in architecture and marine design prior to opening his own studio in 1979 at Shamrock Quay, Southampton, England.

The designer’s international reputation grew as Munford applied his talents to some of the world’s most celebrated yachts, including “J” class racing yachts, large luxury sailing yachts and classic and modern motor yachts. Each is highly individual in design, but all bear the Munford signature, a masterful refinement of classic influences that evoke the great days of yachting. His in-depth knowledge of traditional methods and materials produces exquisitely crafted and finished interiors for new yachts, as well as the “old masters” he is called upon to refit.

In his Sundeck Collection for Summit, Munford has designed versatile nomadic furniture that complements the sleek superstructures of modern yachts. The Sundeck Collection is made using marine glues, stainless steel hardware and solid teak, the hallmark of all Summit furniture.





Trained as an architect, Kipp Stewart has truly distinguished himself as an American designer of furniture. He is known within the design profession as a disciplined and gifted artist with a profound respect for the traditions of his craft. His award-winning furniture is widely admired for its simple, functional elegance.

Kipp Stewart lives and works in Carmel, California, but credits early studies in Europe with instilling an appreciation of history and classical forms. He also cites the late Charles Eames, with whom he worked, as an important influence. Throughout his career, Stewart has achieved numerous industry accolades.

Kipp’s passion for the all of the arts has led to notable work in painting, photography and architecture, as well as furniture design. The Ventana Inn, designed and built in harmony with the Big Sur landscape, is his most widely known architectural project. Stewart’s landscape paintings have been exhibited in museums and galleries in major cities, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

Summit has enjoyed a fruitful partnership with Kipp Stewart since the company’s inception and the designer has been a key contributor to its success. Stewart is dedicated to creating well-designed, well-made furniture that adds to the beauty and grace of everyday life.





Krios, created exclusively for Summit by California designer Conrad Sanchez, is a refined and sophisticated interpretation of the designer’s rustic-meets-modern concept for the outdoor lifestyle. The line is fresh and relaxed, low and loungey, perfect for casual and modern living. Conrad Sanchez’s design sense reflects the modern aesthetic integral to California’s lifestyle.

  Conrad Sanchez’s 35 year, multi-disciplinary design career includes all aspects of residential design. He started designing at the age of 15. Motivated to take the world of architecture and design seriously, he apprenticed with his father, California architect Harvey Sanchez. Winning design awards at an early age, Conrad reflects in his work the modern mid-century influence with which he was surrounded. Conrad’s style weds clean lines to simple, forms, with an intuitive appreciation of space, light, color and setting.

  Conrad’s aesthetic defines a distinctive contemporary California point of view that incorporates nature and lifestyle. In the process of designing a residence, Conrad often includes custom furnishings. The inspiration for Krios evolved from designs for outdoor lounge furniture he created for a home in Sonoma.

  The Krios collection brings hip California sensibility to Summit. The exquisite quality and workmanship of Summit’s brand bring out the best in his design aesthetic, taking it to a new level.




For centuries, England has cultivated and refined the art of garden design. Rosemary Verey, in the 20th century, became widely known for her contribution to this venerable tradition through a series of successful books and her design of the magnificent gardens at Barnsley House, selected as the 1988 Garden of the Year by the Christie’s/Historic House Association. Mrs. Verey’s son, Charles, inherited his mother’s passion for design.

  Born at Barnsley House, Charles Verey attended Eton College and subsequently trained in Fine Arts at Slade School where he studied painting, carpentry and joinery. Soon, Charles began to design and make garden furniture, drawing from traditional structures to create practical furniture with a modern sense of line, scale and proportion.

  Verey’s signature garden benches are Summit classics- a fresh, stylish interpretation of a great English tradition.
